Is Social Media Big Tobacco 2.0? Suits Over the Impact on Teens
Переглядів 978Місяць тому
Hundreds of lawsuits claim social media platforms have caused a youth mental health crisis. The cases against Meta Platforms Inc., Google LLC, BytDance Ltd., and Snap Inc., have a high hurdle: the tech industry's liability shield, Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act. The plaintiffs are taking a page out of the playbook that brought down Big Tobacco. They argue social media apps, ...

Rare Toads or Clean Energy? An Environmental Law Fight in Nevada
Переглядів 8713 місяці тому
The Dixie Valley toad, a recently discovered species in Nevada, faces a potential fight for its survival. The toad relies on the heat of underground hot springs-the very same geothermal source that renewable energy developers see as a weapon against climate change. The Inflation Reduction Act, passed in 2021 in part to help the US reach its climate goals, includes a major investment in building...
Supreme Court's 'History' Test Sparks Second Amendment Confusion

In June 2022, The US Supreme Court struck down a New York State law that regulated concealed handguns. The court's 6-3 decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, created a new test that requires judges to look at whether a gun law is “consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation." In this video, we look at how lower courts are struggling with the ...

Why Congress So Rarely Passes Government Funding Bills on Time
Переглядів 1,4 тис.8 місяців тому
Since 1977, when the current system for government budgeting went into effect, the US Congress has passed all of its spending bills by the fiscal year deadline only four times. During that period, the government has shut down due to the lack of funding - either fully or partially - at least 20 times. In this video, we look at how the current budgeting process is supposed to work and the way it ...

I’m excited to share an idea that can revolutionize AI ethics. AI is transforming our world, but to ensure it benefits everyone, we need a more inclusive and transparent platform for sharing ideas. That’s why I’ve developed a contribution-based framework focused on originality, relevance, impact, and feasibility. It also addresses intellectual property and protects against evasive prompting to steal ideas. Here’s how it works: - Define Contributions: We categorize inputs into ideas, solutions, and feedback. - Structured Review: Automated assessments, peer reviews, and expert evaluations ensure fair consideration. - Transparency: All contributions and evaluations are documented, attributed, labeled, and accessible. - Ethical Protections: We advocate for strong protections for intellectual property and proper recognition for contributors. - Community Engagement: We build a collaborative community to refine and support ideas. By creating a platform where everyone can share and improve ideas with fair reviews and strong protections, we can make AI development more ethical and inclusive. This framework aims to promote more ethical, innovative, and inclusive AI development. I would hope if you would like to join this journey by sharing your thoughts and supporting innovators and paradigm thinkers alike. This system can be an addition or a small rework of previous structures. Hope this peaks your interest users.

The current property tax system in the US is unjust. Primary residences should be exempt, with taxation reserved for secondary homes and investment properties. As it stands, the system disproportionately burdens low-income individuals while the wealthy continue to profit from real estate without significant impact from property taxes.

Sounds like a mens rea culpability matter but tied up with claims of no precedent but that creates a circular view. They are educated and work in law but ignorance is suppose to be no defense, it is therefore very egregious thw avwrage citizen is punished or found against in context where they couldnt have known the law even in non violwnt sutuations ans with how confusing law is front to back. Judges have immunity from an Indiana case where due peocess was passed over on a claim a young lady was mentally defective so she was basically surgically neutered no different than a dog and the Judge was given absolute immunity. That is not equality before the law. Like the slight difference between laying down and kneeling, Nazis have executed in a manner so it could be inferred by law to have happened before. Qualified immunity began with clerical errors and the like in administration.

Payed nothing for a public defender and was satisfied with the results. Asked a lawyer to represent me and he wanted $6000 for the same service. Lawyers take advantage of the situation your in because they know your in a very bad and scary situation and if you don't know whats going on or what to do they will prey on it. Public defenders on the other hand don't get payed as much so they are doing their job out of their heart. Go with the lawyers who's motive is to help you, not for profit.

Sky-high school taxes are the biggest problem for many New York State property owners who suffer from the highest property taxes in America. The teachers' unions love the current system where the school budget votes are deliberately held in May, six months out-of-sync with the general elections. This is done to ensure a minimal voter turnout and voter suppression that strongly favors participation from the teachers, school employees, PTA members and parents who want exorbitant budgets paid for by their neighbors. If the school budgets were voted on in the November elections many school budgets would go down in flames. The way to fix the problem would be to divide each school district's annual budget in half and collect half of the amount from the property owners as is currently done. Then, collect the other half as a per capita "User Fee" from the parents of the children using the schools. New York State loves to levy “user fees”. It’s not a “tax” it’s a “user fee”. Immediately the parent who have been supporting unlimited school budgets paid for by their neighbors would be screaming for budget cuts. See how that works.

John Ehrlichman (top white house aid of President Nixon) said the following in an interview according to a publication by CNN (Cable News Network) over 7 years ago . . . . . “You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin. And then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities,” Ehrlichman said. “We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Esg is terrible because every corporation has a God given right to exploit the environment and society to the max, free from all leftist regulation and laws. Who cares about the future generation when stock prices are going up and I made money this fiscal quarter? If companies can dump their waste into the rivers and seas and clear cut forests so that I can see a 10% increase in profit next year, then by all means they should do it! I don't eat fish anyway.

This video is kind of worthless. Billable hours as a concept isn't even close to being the problem. It's the minimums set by law firms that attorneys are expected to abide by in a given year. Anything close to 2,000 billable hour requirements, which is the norm in BigLaw, is absolute insanity. Even if BigLaw moved to an "alternative" means of measuring lawyer productivity, they could still set nutty minimums for that as well. Attorneys just need to stop accepting jobs that negate their entire work-life balance, and reject work environments that hamper their ability to be with their families enough and go on actual vacations.

The Marijuana laws are putting Americans in kind of a harmful / risky situation....America is the land of the free...but you have some Americans with illnesses in a Compromisal situation at risk. Risking physical / mental health / security / of their well-being not to mention legal problems...with all our govermental problems why concern ourselves with such an idiotic laws..our Forefathers used Marijuana daily in many different ways...our Decoration of independence was wrote on weed paper🤦🏻people have been using it since beginning of time.....why waste time, money and Resources on this???? As Americans we point our fingers at other countries with lack of human freedom / rights...although we turn a blind eye to our own sick people in search of natural medicine 🤦🏻🤦🏻my friend was dying of cancer...he was super sick couldnt eat / Nauseated from the medicine / Chemotherapy. The RX he was prescribed was damaging his situation more...i saw with my own eyes how his last year of life was made more bareable by using Marijuana....his poor daughter was having to go to drug apartments dealing with shady characters not to mention fear of law enforcement and criminal charges....to help her ailing father...it was sad situation....and the sadest part of this whole situation is that this law is absolutely unnecessary and the only thing it does is empower criminal entities. It's been proven that criminal organizations have been spraying and dusting Marijuana with harmful cancer causing chemicals with irreversible damages to the naive user. It's been proven that gangs like MS 13 have been lacing Marijuana with Fentanyl. Marijuana has been weaponized..I think this Prohibition will not end until the government is sued in a court of law. I think any competent lawyer can easily prove the hardship this law has caused and continues to harm our law abiding citizens. It can easily be proven how this law enabled the big pharmaceutical companies to be empowered by systematically using our citizens in the name of profit...I think the politicians that are involved in keeping this law on the books should also be named in this lawsuit and Held liable for their actions. What this comes down to is a big cash grab Without any regards for the average citizen. Shameful how our laws being Manipulated in this fashion.

Maybe by adding this reference or citation to the AI images metadata will stop people from commercialized protected content.

Comparing AI to humans is just pathetic anthropomorphism. AI is just a software, it is not a living being, so it has no rights whatsoever, let alone to "learn". But the nature of AI doesn't even matter, it is smoke in the eyes used by lawyers to deviate from the point: Here are the tech companies those who steal. And indeed don't we have to buy or pay to read a copyrighted book? Didn't my parents have to buy my school textbooks? Don't I pay for Netflix, Spotify etc? While AI companies can steal for free and make money over copyrighted work? AI = All illegal.
